New Star is committed to providing opportunities to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to allow them to grow and develop skills to help them become more independent. We believe that anyone can thrive with the right services and supports.

We are currently searching for a Music Therapist.

Music Therapy can be provided in a one on one setting or group setting. Board Certified Music Therapists provide therapy services through the use of music to increase wanted behaviors and decrease unwanted behaviors. Music Therapy can be used to increase communication, self-esteem, motor skills, socialization, etc. It can also be used to decrease maladaptive behaviors and teach coping skills. Music Therapy can be done while listening to music, creating music, playing instruments, singing, etc. The Board Certified Music Therapist works closely with the individual’s team to identify areas of need and then develops a plan to address those areas. Music Therapy is funded by Indiana’s Family Support Waiver and Community Integration and Habilitation Waiver. To participate in these services, an individual must have these identified in their Person-Centered Individualized Support Plan or PC/ISP. An individual can talk to their Case Manager about adding this to their PC/ISP and annual budget.
