In collaboration with Prairie State College, New Star will be hosting its annual Stroll ‘n Roll to benefit children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Stroll ‘n Roll includes a 5K fun run and walk as well as a 2K stroll and roll, which is well suited for individuals using walkers or wheelchairs. The 5K offers runners and walkers a challenging course that winds throughout Prairie State’s Campus and a neighboring forest preserve, while the 2K stroll and roll will take place on a paved walking path near Prairie State College’s athletic fields.
“We are grateful for Prairie State College’s enthusiasm about supporting this unique event,” remarked Dan Strick, CEO and President of New Star. “Their campus offers us the opportunity to create an event that not only benefits those with disabilities, but also one that our clients can fully participate in regardless of their particular challenges when it comes to mobility.”
The Stroll ‘n Roll will take place Saturday, June 10th at Prairie State College’s athletic fields by the St. James Wellness Center on Halsted Road in Chicago Heights. Registration begins at 8am and the 5k/2k begins at 9am. The afternoon will be a community and family-friendly event, including a bouncy house, face painting, music and concessions. Ribbons will be given to all participants. Prizes will be offered to the team that raises the most money and brings in the most participants.
